Sports Registration Information

Athletic Participation

Participation in interscholastic athletics and spirit squad as part of a school's education program is a privilege and not a right. Athletes are representatives of Thornton High School and must exhibit exemplary behavior at all times.

Any student who desires to participate in Thornton High athletics must complete the proper paperwork, fees, and physical evaluations prior to being allowed to try out. Forms may be picked up in the main office, from the Athletic Director, or the coach.

YOU MUST PICK UP A PACKET OF PAPERWORK AT THE THS MAIN OFFICE

Paperwork to be returned for sports participation includes:

  • Authorization for Athletic Participation form    
  • Proof of current physical (dated within past 365 days)
    unless already on file from previous sport season
    ________Athletic check in form (new one for each sport season)               
    ________Completed emergency card            (new one for each sport season)     
    ________$115 participation fee (1st and 2nd sport only per school year)      
                                        OR
                     completed FAC form (form in main office) and $57.50 
                                        OR
                     proof of free/reduced lunch approval
    ________Grades from summer school (for Fall sports only).

    Also for any student that attended a high school other than Thornton High School
    ________Completed CHSAA transfer papers     see Athletic Director, Mr. Duwe or Athletic Secretary, Gail Stech.
    ________Copy of last report card or unofficial transcript from previous high school

INCOMPLETE PAPERWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Paperwork and fees are to be turned in to the Athletic Secretary, Gail Stech.
DO NOT turn in paperwork to your coach.

Fall sports season begins August 9, 2010 for Boys Golf. 
All other sports begin August 16, 2010.

As a member of the East Metro Athletic Conference, Thornton High School offers 20 sports as well as the Spirit Squad (Cheerleading). Interested students may compete in:
