GRADE REPLACEMENT
When a class is repeated, the lower grade will be automatically removed from the transcript, replaced with the higher grade, and grade point average recalculated.
All students must be enrolled in 3 credits of Core Classes (e.g., English, math, science, social studies, or world languages). These requirements are based on current Superintendent Policy and may be changed at any time by the Board of Education. If a change occurs, students will be notified.
Graduation requirements have been established by Thornton High School and the Board of Education to insure a well-balanced educational program to meet the challenges of our society. These requirements allow and encourage a wide range of electives to prepare for post secondary career preparation or advanced study.
PARTICIPATION IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY
To graduate from Thornton High School a student must earn at least one full semester worth of credit (3 credits) at Thornton High School . The student must also be enrolled at Thornton High School during their final graduating semester.
A student who has successfully completed all academic requirements (20 credits for 2008; 23 credits for 2009 and forward) according to Adams Twelve Five Star School policy and is in good standing may participate in graduation exercises and will receive his or her diploma at that time.
EARLY GRADUATION
Any junior planning to graduate in June, 2008, (one year early) must see his/her guidance counselor immediately. The request for early graduation needs to be complete by the end of 1 st semester of the year they are graduating, at the latest. A full year prior is preferred.
