Dear Parents/Guardians of Student Athletes and Activities,
It is with tremendous pleasure that I assume responsibilities of Athletic/Activities Director at Thornton High School, in the Adams 12 Five Star School District. Thornton High School has a rich tradition of athletics in the Adams Five Star School District and in the Front Range Athletic Conference. Thornton High offers 22 different sports; 11 of those sports are for female athletes. Thornton High has state of the art facilities, a top notch coaching staff, and highly skilled and dedicated student athletes. I am enthusiastic and eager to have the opportunity to provide new leadership to this excellent athletic program.
Thornton High promotes academic excellence as well as athletic achievement and activity participation. I firmly believe athletics and activities serve as a catalyst for student achievement. As Athletic/Activities Director, I plan to bolster our athletic programs by supporting our coaches, encouraging student/athlete participation, working closely with parents and patrons to enhance the booster program, and striving to do what is best for Thornton High and its student body.
I have a diverse background in competing, coaching, and officiating high school athletics. I have served as a head track coach, a varsity assistant basketball coach, a lower level football coach, as well as a baseball umpire and basketball referee. I have also been a class sponsor and a student leadership advisor. These experiences and learning opportunities have given me a solid foundation and background for becoming an Athletic/Activities Director. I have always aspired to be an Athletic/Activities Director and feel fortunate to become one here at Thornton High. I will continue to learn and strive for excellence as a leader of the athletic and activities department at Thornton High.
As another school year rapidly approaches, I am thrilled to start the 2008 Fall Athletics season as your new Athletic and Activities Director.
Sincerely,
Brian Duwe
