Thornton High School Vaccine Clinic is a huge success

Thornton High School Vaccine Clinic is a huge success

On Friday, February 24, Adams 12 and Thornton High School hosted a vaccine clinic, at which over 300 students received childhood/school-required vaccinations! This initiative was a collaboration between the offices of the Department of Student Engagement Initiatives and Thornton High School, in partnership with Regis University, the Colorado Alliance for Health Equity and Practice (CAHEP), Muslim Youth for Positive Impact (MYPI), Soccer Without Borders, Mile High United Way 211, 365 Health In Hand, We Don’t Waste, and Silk Road Grill and Market.

In addition to the childhood immunizations, the event offered COVID-19 and flu vaccines for students and adults as well as dental sealants. The event included Afghan food and kid-friendly activity rooms so that parents could be in community with one another and attend parenting classes provided by MYPI. In addition, the Adams 12 Human Resources department had two staff on-site to speak with parents about employment opportunities with the school district, and staff from the Department of Student Engagement Initiatives drove four continuous transportation routes so that every family who wanted to attend the event was able to.

The event was covered by three local news affiliates that all included interviews with our very own Farid Stanikzai!
