Our Principal

I am honored to serve as the Principal for Thornton High School beginning in the 2022-
2023 school year. Returning to the halls of Thornton High School after graduating in 1990 from
THS, I find myself experiencing so many memories and emotions. As the new principal leader, I
embrace the delicate work of supporting our students in the many challenges’ life may present.
I will continue to encourage our students to take academic risks, enjoy the multiple
opportunities high school presents, and learn to become positive members of our immediate
community. In addition, I will support our staff to lead by example, empower themselves, and
reflect in perfecting their professional practices while creating lifelong relationships with
students and staff.

This is my tenth year in education. Prior to returning to college to finish my degree
requirements, I owned and operated a family business. After receiving my degree in
Mathematics from Metropolitan State University, I began teaching in Denver Public Schools at
Rachel B. Noel Middle School. Following this, I served as a Mathematics instructor at Horizon
High School for four years, a Dean of Students and a Curriculum and Instruction Assistant
Principal at Northglenn High School for four years, and now I return “home” to Thornton High
School. I have continuously supported Adams 12’s learning models as a graduate and parent of
two students, both graduates of Horizon High School, who have enjoyed being part of the
Adams 12 family. Lastly, my wife of twenty-five years plus is also a graduate of Northglenn High
School.

In conclusion, Thornton High School welcomes and wants the community to be involved in
different aspects of our academic, athletic and activity communities and opportunites as we
grow. If you are interested in being part of our team, feel free to email me directly.

Sincerely,
Charles Arellano
