2024 Bond Program, Investing in Student Success

Thornton High School Rebuild Project

In the next five years, Thornton High School will be entirely rebuilt. The project represents the largest investment of the 2024 bond and one of the most significant capital projects in district history.

As one of the district’s oldest facilities, the effort to rebuild Thornton High School is a core element of the 2024 bond. The new campus will replace the aging facility with a modern, high-quality environment built to support student learning for generations to come. The project will dramatically reimagine the site with overhauled academic spaces, improved traffic flow, updated athletic fields and increased parking capacity.

The new school will be built around a redesigned curriculum that offers six pathways, all of which are designed to prepare students for career and college readiness. This project reflects the district’s long-term commitment to equity, opportunity and investment in the future of the Thornton community.

The new building will feature a primary courtyard, which is designed to serve as a common space for students and provide opportunities for outdoor learning. The new building will also improve student experience and support equity by providing ADA compliance and dedicated spaces for support services.

Projected construction budget:

$215 million to $236 million
