I have been teaching Social Studies at THS since 1997. I originally joined Adams12 as part of a district initiative promoting the infusion of Multicultural Education where I worked as trainer for staff and as direct student support. My family is from North Denver and I went to school at Ranum High School, UNC - Greeley, CU Boulder, UCD, Metro State, among others in continuing and graduate education and I was the first college graduate in my family. My teaching and professional philosophy centers on inspiring and empowering young people to engage in making their communities and our society a better place to live and work rather than just adjusting to it as is - school is a means not an end. My personal interests include familia, music (I'm a percussionist/drummer), camping/fishing, and social justice work including the idea that "La Cultura Cura" - culture cures.
