Hi! My name is Laurel Payzant, and this is my second year at Thornton High School. Last year, I was welcomed into the district teaching English Language Arts the first half of the year and Chemistry/Forensics the remaining second half of the year. It was then that I found my heart in the students, admin, my fellow colleagues, and the school culture in its entirety. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a minor in Sociology from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2015. I recently graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate. This year, I am both excited and proud to have my own high school class teaching English Language Development (ELD). Please feel free to reach out with any concerns, questions, or feedback throughout the year.
