I am originally from Athens, GA (Gooooo Dawgs!) and I moved to Colorado eight years ago to begin my teaching career. This is my first year at Thornton High School and I will be teaching 9th and 12th grade English. I am incredibly excited to be a Trojan and am ready for the 2019-2020 school year.
In the past I have taught 9th grade and 12th grade English, as well as Film Studies. I am passionate about my subject but more importantly I just want to help kids find their path and figure out what makes them most happy in life. Everything I do in the classroom is centered on relationship building and creating a safe and caring envrionment for all my students. I coach basketball here at Thornton High School and am super stoked for the 2020-2021 school year and season.
As an educator, I believe it is important to always continue to learn and never stop exploring. I am very proud to say that I just earned a Masters degree in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity from Colorado University- Boulder. I also spend much of my free time traveling and exploring the wonderful world we live in as well as playing percussion in a band. Despite the uncertain times we are all living in I am very excited to explore new ways of learning and growing together with my students.
