I have been teaching Social Studies at THS since 1997. I originally joined Adams12 as part of a district initiative promoting the infusion of Multicultural Education where I worked as trainer for staff and as direct student support. My family is from North Denver and I went to school at Ranum High School, UNC - Greeley, CU Boulder, UCD, Metro State, among others in continuing and graduate education and I was the first college graduate in my family. I also have a Masters in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity with an endorsement in Cultural and Linguistic Diversity from CU Boulder. My teaching and professional philosophy centers on inspiring and empowering young people to engage in making their communities and our society a better place to live and work rather than just adjusting to it as is - school is a means not an end. My personal interests include familia, music (I'm a percussionist/drummer), camping/fishing, and social justice work including the idea that "La Cultura Cura" - culture cures. We all have a responsibility to make our communities and society a better place for all.
Tú eres mi otro yo.You are my other me.
Si te hago daño a ti. If I do harm to you,
Me hago daño a mi mismo. I do harm to myself...
